BREIF

Al Quoz 3, February 6th, Loom Ensemble will premiere it’s newest evening-length production at thejamjar. Two ex-pat New Yorkers living in Dubai, a team of 9 other Dubai residents from around the world, and three visiting New York guest artists offer an evening you won’t forget—infusing Dubai with taste of the downtown NYC art scene.

Say I am You will be an evening of live music, exuberant dance, and compelling theatrical storytelling, with fantastical costumes, multi-media design, and a feelgood party atmosphere.

Loom Ensemble takes its audience to the fantastically unlikely meeting of a research biologist, a Chinese pre-modern peasant, a sarcastic American college freshman, and Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī Rumi, the 13th century founder of Sufism. “What makes us whole,” they ask. “What separates us from that sense of wholeness?” Loom uses its signature pallet of layered vocal harmonies and athletic dances toexplore the full spectrum of human emotion. Say I Am You invites you to ask big questions and be open to new ideas, while keeping you laughing all along the way.

Say I Am You opens this February 6, 7 and 8 at thejamjar Dubai, an innovative warehouse arts space in Al Quoz 3. Tickets are by donation, suggested range 25-100dh. To reserve your seat in advance, please e-mail info@thejamjardubai.com or call +971 4 341 7303.

That same week, Loom Ensemble will also premiere a 10-minute short play Reedsong in Dubai’s Short and Sweet Theater Festival at DUCTAC on Saturday 8 February at 3pm, along with a musical concert as a part of The Fridge Concert Series Monday 10 February.
